Kevät meni, kesä tuli! / Spring went, summer came!

Kevät hujahti ohi ihan uskomattoman kiireisenä opiskelun, hallituskuvioiden ja flamencotanssin pyörteissä! Opiskelukuvioihin kuului verkkokursseina suoritettujen suuntautumisopintojen lisäksi myös opinnäytetyön työstäminen. Opinnäytetyön aiheenahan on flamencomatkailun motivaatiotekijät ja nimeksi näyttäisi muotoutuvan Matkailu motivoi flamencoa. Työn tiimoilta toteutin kevättalvella kyselyn Helsingin Flamencoyhdistyksen jäsenille ja sain kaiken kaikkiaan 55 vastausta, johon olin kertakaikkisen tyytyväinen! Sittemmin olen analysoinut ja työstänyt kyselyn tuloksia ja muovannut niistä sopivia kysymyksiä tuleviin haastatteluihin, jotka on tarkoitus toteuttaa vielä ennen juhannusta. Valmistuminen vuoden 2016 lopussa on edelleen kiikarissa, syksylle jää vielä muutama kurssi ja tietenkin opinnäytetyön esittely! Olé!

Muuten olenkin tanssinut flamencoa varsin aktiivisesti. Viime viikolla ohjelmassa oli jälleen Elina Lehtolan ja Laura Rintamäen oppilasryhmien näytös huikean livebändin kanssa! Oppilaita oli lavalla noin 80 ja kotimaisia huippuartisteja lähestulkoon 10, kyllä oli ilo vetää heidän kanssaan! Tuota näytöstä varten treenattiin hikeä kaihtamatta monenmonituista tuntia niin vakituisilla viikkotunneilla kuin ryhmien kesken omissa treeneissä. Itselläni oli ohjelmassa ylemmän jatkoryhmän solea por bulerias - tangos -koreografia, tientos bata de colalla ja loppuhuipennuksena hikitekniikkaryhmän buleriaspätkät, joiden tekoon olimme saaneet itse osallistua. Treenirupeaman aikana lanseerasimme myös opettajani Elinan teokseen Imperfecto ja edelliseen blogipostaukseeni pohjautuen uuden käsitteen imperfektionismi muistaaksemme, että täydellisyydentavoittelu ei ole itsetarkoitus. :D Joskus on hyvä osata nauraa itselleen!

Ladies on stage

Ja niinhän siinä kävi, että vaikka lavalla oma tekninen suoritukseni ei ollut ihan huippuluokkaa, oli loppuunmyyty näytös täyttä nautintoa ja uskomaton elämys! Sitä oli hyvä juhlistaa koko poppoon kanssa illallisella Helsingin keskustassa.

Last practice!

The spring went by and I was incredibly busy with studying, board activities and flamenco dancing! My studying included both Internet-based courses and work with my thesis on motivational factors of flamenco travel. The name of the thesis is shaping up to be Travel motivates flamenco. In early Spring I carried out a survey for the members of the Helsinki Flamenco Association and got a total of 55 answers, which made me very happy! After the survey I have been working on analyzing the results and fashioning suitable questions for the interviews that I plan to carry out before Midsummer. I still plan on graduating at the end of year 2016. There are a few courses left for the Fall and of course the presentation of my thesis! Olé!

Other than studying, I have spent most of my time dancing flamenco. Last week we had our Spring recital with the flamenco students of Elina Lehtola and Laura Rintamäki with a great live band! A total of approximately 80 students on stage and a band composed of Finnish top flamenco artists! What could be better! We spent countless hours practicing for the recital both at our regular classes and in our own extra practices. My pieces included an advanced level solea por bulerias - tangos choreography and a tientos with bata de cola and as a final touch a bit of bulerias with our "sweat technique" group. For this bulerias bits we had had a chance to participate in the choreographies. During this intense practice period we coined a new term based on my teacher Elina's piece Imperfecto and my last blog post. The term is imperfectionism and it reminds us of the fact that perfectionism is not the purpose. :D Sometimes its good to laugh at yourself!

And so it came out that even though I did not achieve my best technically on stage, the sold-out recital was full pleasure and an incredible experience! After the recital it was great to celebrate all together by having dinner in center of Helsinki!

And now we are enjoying a summer break!
