Yhdessä tekemisen iloa / The Joy of Working Together

Olin mukana festivaaliviikon aikana lähes kaikissa tapahtumissa.

Kaiken kaikkiaan 72 lasta tanssahteli Vuotalon lavalla. Upeaa! Flamencossa on tulevaisuus!

Perjantaina 12.2. Compañía Kaari & Roni Martinin Kill Carmen -teoksen koululaisnäytös jäi minulta kokematta, mutta illalla puuhasteltiin kaikki yhdessä Savoy-teatterilla kotimaisen teoksen iltanäytöksessä. Upeaa suomalaista flamencoteatteria ja lahjakkaita taiteilijoita!

Festivaali huipentui espanjalaisen päätähtemme Alfonso Losan ja kumppaneiden upeaan teokseen Tendencias - Flamenco a Tres.

Tavoitteena valmistuminen joulukuussa 2016!

Erityiskiitos festarikuvaajallemme Paula Partaselle tässä blogipostauksessa olevista kuvista!

The flamenco festival is over and I have overcome the cold following it. Life is getting back to normal. The festival was a great experience and although before and during the festival there were a few tough moments, the strongest feelings are of a great success and the joy of working together! What a great bunch of people including the board, the festival production, the volunteers, not to mention our great guests from Spain! What could have been better...

I was involved in almost every one of the festival events. The festival began with an Opening Club on Saturday 6.2. and I was the person in charge that day. And what an experience! I don't think I have ever learned as much of one singular thing than I learned from producing and executing this event. The best of it was that everything went well, the audience enjoyed the event and the night ended in a traditional juerga ring. I even mustered up the courage to dance a little bit of rumba myself.

On Sunday 7.2. I was there to help a colleague at the Children's and youngsters' biennale. An incredible 72 children were dancing on the stage! Magnificent! Flamenco is the future! On Sunday also began the five-day courses of maestro Alfonso Losa. I participated on the midlevel course where we danced a explosive and fiery bulerías. During the course I acted as the interpreter alongside two festival colleagues as it was very important to our maestro that everybody understood and learned. The best course ever! And what a great teacher! We want more, and soon!

On Friday 12.2. I did not manage to participate on the production of Compania Kaari & Roni Martin's Kill Carmen for local schools, but during the evening we all again worked together at Savoy Theatre! What a showmanship of Finnish flamenco theater and talented artists!

And the festival's high point was on Saturday 13.2. when Alfonso Losa and his crew overtook Savoy Theatre with their spectacle Tendencias - Flamenco a Tres! Three male dancers - maestro Losa, Jesús Carmona and David Paniagua performed an incredible array of flamenco along a very skilled guitaries and two incredible singers. The audience could hardly contain themselves! I was most taken back by the charisma of Alfonso Losa himself, but each artist was amazing in their own way! After a great day the festival core team and the performers enjoyed of a well-deserved dinner together and partied the night away - until early morning hours!

Now it is time to look ahead, to carefully contemplate whether to continue on the board and to concentrate on my studies and my thesis which is progressing slowly but surely. The aim is after all to graduate in December 2016!

Special thanks to our festival photographer Paula Partanen for the pictures in this blog post!
